Majestic Elegance: A Grand Residential Space Designed by Feng-An Lin

An Exquisite Blend of Beauty and Functionality

For this two-story structure, the living room is set as two stories high to fully introduce outdoor sunlight and provide a breathtaking view of the lush landscape and distant mountains. The perfect overlap of different materials creates a warm, calm, and pleasant ambiance, while the refreshing hues of the interior decor represent the intricate details blended into the structure, outlining the exclusive lifestyle of the homeowner and his family.

Taking into account the importance of light and landscape, the design prioritizes openness and spaciousness in the high-ceiling living room. The use of open scales and the perfect overlapping of different materials result in an elegant, majestic, and grand space. The 290 square foot indoor area is segmented into a living room, a dining room, and a study, allowing guests to gather freely and enjoy the breeze and night scene together.

Natural marble is selected as the main wall expression in the two-story living room, complemented by leather, solid wood, iron embroidered mirrors, and metal lines. The combination of these materials, along with the natural texture of stone and vertical lines, exhibits the aesthetics of the conflict between order and nature. The dining room and living room are in an open plan layout, connecting the host's workspace and the main display wall. This integration of materials enhances family sound interaction and creates an open moving line that fosters strong emotional connections.

Majestic Elegance is located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and was completed in March 2020. The design is a result of extensive research, focusing on the exploration of various aspects of life through vision, hearing, atmosphere, and the depth of the soul. The goal was to create a harmonious and ordered space that evokes both reason and sensibility.

The design's main challenge was the featured ceiling design of the tall living room, inspired by the theme of "Blooming Rose." Each petal was meticulously calculated, molded, and spray-painted before being composed using custom-made wooden scales. The installation process required additional attention to detail due to the height of the space.

Majestic Elegance is a testament to Feng-An Lin's ability to seamlessly integrate vocabulary and media to create a space that echoes the outdoor mountain scenery, evoking a range of emotions and pure imagination. It is a comfortable and tranquil living landscape desired by the homeowner.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that showcase outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
